In 1987, Richard Douieb, a pioneer of krav-maga, opened the first school in France and Europe at the request of Imi Lichtenfeld, founder of krav-maga. Ten years later, in 1997, Richard Douieb founded the European federation of krav-maga to structure this discipline and meet an increasingly large demand in France and the rest of Europe, as well as to ensure quality training for teachers[1]. Krav-maga was quickly adopted by prestigious intervention groups such as GIGN, and, in recent years, RAID.
In January 2019, Steve Schmitt was appointed president of FEKM-RD following Richard Douieb's departure.
